FAQ

  • What is a LUT?

LUT stands for “Look Up Table” which are files that are able to change how your footage looks. LUTs have many different uses but are often used for color conversions and creative color grading to make your videos look a certain way quickly.

  • Do you offer returns or exchanges?

Due to the nature of digital products all sales are final, but I do offer email support if you have product-related issues.

  • What if I am not very skilled at color grading?

Good news! LUTs are super easy use and are used by people of all skill levels. Your LUT purchase comes with a instructional PDF guide to help you get the best out of my products.

  • When you shoot in Classic Chrome, what tweaks do you make to your Camera?

When shooting in Fujifilm’s Classic Chrome film simulation I like to use: -2 highlights, -2 shadows, -2 color, -4 sharpness, 0 high iso nr, and turn off interframe nr.

  • Do these LUTs work with HDR Color Grading?

My LUTs are built for a standard Rec 709 workflow, not HDR so not expect to use these LUTs with a Davinci Wide Gamut workflow or a different color space than Rec 709.

  • Do these LUTs work with my software?

I am pretty sure most all video editing software supports LUTs with issues. My LUTs come in the ‘.CUBE’ format. You just have to import them into your specific editor and then apply them to your footage. If you are unsure how to import LUTs simply try and google it and there are loads of good tutorials for your specific software.

  • Will these LUTs work with my footage?

If you are shooting properly (exposure and white balance) and have some basic knowledge of how to color correct your footage then I’m pretty confident your footage will look great with my products. My LUTs will not save bad or poorly shot footage, nor will they probably work on color sciences or cameras that they aren’t made for. It’s really all about learning how to use LUTs as a tool to get to the an image that you like the look of.

  • Do these LUTs make my footage look great in one click with no adjustments?

While there is a change that these will look incredible with just one click (especially if you shoot Fujifilm and with my same settings listed above), you will more than likely need to do more than just apply a LUT, but it can be a good way to start or finish a color grade. I always encourage people to first color correct their footage to get their exposure and white balance correct, then apply a LUT to get the style you want.

  • How do I get my exports in Resolve to look consistent with the Preview window, Quicktime, Vimeo, Youtube, etc on an Apple Computer?

Within DaVinci Resolve, open ‘Project Settings’ — click ‘Color Management’ — make sure your color science is DaVinci YRGB, Timeline color space is Rec.709-A, and output color space is ‘Same as Timeline’

  • How do I get the best results with your Meadow LUTs?

If you have already purchased one of my Meadow products, make sure and watch this video walking through how I use them. My Youtube channel is a growing library of videos also available for you to check out so have a look around.
